What this is

This is the written half of Konjam Coding. The videos are on YouTube, spoken in Tamil. These pages are the part you copy and paste from.

A video is good at showing you that something is possible and what it looks like when it works. It is bad at being a reference. Nobody wants to scrub back through eighteen minutes to find one apt install line.

So each tutorial here is the same material as its video, written out: the commands, the files, the output you should expect, and the errors you will probably hit. Watch the video once, then keep the page open while you work.

Some pages have no video yet, and some videos have no page yet. Both are fine. They are linked to each other where both exist.

The written tutorials are in English for now. A wrong technical translation is worse than no translation, and translating “transform tree” or “quality of service profile” badly makes a hard subject harder. When there is money to pay a real translator, these pages get a proper Tamil version. Machine translation is not going to be used for them.

Every tutorial says what it was last tested against, right under the title. ROS 2 especially moves: a command that worked on Humble can be renamed or removed by the next distro.

If the page says Jazzy and you are on Humble, expect at least one thing to differ. That is not you being bad at this.

Tell someone. This repository is public and the fix is usually one line.

  • Comment at the bottom of the page. Needs a GitHub account.
  • Comment on the video. Needs nothing. Other people reading the comments usually have the same question.
  • Open an issue on KonjamCoding/learn.
  • Send the fix yourself. Every page has an “Edit this page” link at the bottom that takes you straight to it on GitHub.

Corrections are the most useful thing anyone sends. A broken install command stops a beginner completely, and the person who wrote it has usually moved on and cannot see it any more.

Not a bootcamp, not a certificate, and not one-to-one mentoring. One person makes it, after work. It is a map, not a guide standing next to you.

Questions and corrections

Stuck on a step, or found a command that no longer works? Say so here and the page gets fixed. Other people hitting the same wall will find your comment.

The comment box is not switched on yet. Until it is, the video comments and the issue tracker both work.

No GitHub account? Comment on the video instead, or open an issue on the repo.
